If you don’t already have a wall calendar, here is how to make your own DIY wall calendar, today!
Another crazy year is coming to an end. What are you doing to prepare for 2018? One way to set goals, stay organized, and take charge of this new coming year is to make a large chalkboard calendar on your wall! Here’s how you can do just that…
Supplies You’ll Need
Chalk
Create the outline for your wall calendar using the level. Draw your lines with chalk. Then use your painters tape to cover the chalk lines.
Once you’ve created the outer perimeter of the calendar, create a grid. Use the chalk and a level to make your lines. Then cover the lines with painters tape. You’ll want to look at them visually to make sure all of the blocks are the same size.
Optional: to avoid chalkboard paint seeping under the tape and ruining your perfect squares, you can apply a coat of your existing wall color before applying the chalkboard paint to the wall.
Apply one coat of chalkboard paint. Allow the paint to dry completely, then apply a second coat of chalkboard paint.
Once the paint has dried completely, remove the tape to reveal incredible clean lines! Be sure to read the directions on your container of chalkboard paint. Different brands may have varying drying times. Typically, you’ll want to allow 3 days of drying before using chalk on the surface.
After the paint has completely dried, season each square with chalk. Then, erase the chalk.
Create labels for the days of the week. This tutorial spray painted wooden letters and hung them above each column of the calendar using command strips.
