A garage can be a great space to have if you organize and use it in a smart way. Yes it’s true, your garage can be more for you than a mess to be avoided. Here are some great garage renovation ideas:
Home Gym
For a large garage, consider using a portion of it as a home gym. The garage is a perfect place to put bulky exercise equipment and machines. Install gym flooring or paint your garage floor hang a punching bag, mount a chin-up bar, etc. This is a great setup for CrossFit or another home workout plan.
Game Room
Transform a portion of the garage into a game room (King of Queens style) with a pool table, foosball, air hockey, or maybe even a mini basketball hoop for the kids. I love this idea from Simple Sweep.
Home Office
Move your computer/filing cabinet/desk area OUT of the kitchen and make use of space (and quietness) in the garage. Make sure your garage is insulated or temperature-controlled so it’s a comfortable place to work. I love this idea from The Office Stylist. It works perfectly for someone that works from home and would rather use that space for a quiet office away from the family living space.

Hang EVERYTHING
With the plethora of hook and storage products out there, it is possible to hang just about everything in your garage. Getting stuff off the ground and hanging on the walls will make space for the car and possibly one of the fun renovations I’ve already mentioned! Great garage renovation here on House Beautiful.
Revamp the Entrance
Make the entrance into yourgarage more appealing and inviting. Just because it’s the garage doesn’t mean it can’t look terrific. There are some really great ways to dress up your garage doors on a budget. I love this idea on HomeTalk.
Other Storage
For those things you can’t hang, store in cubbies, on shelves, or inside cabinets. Make sure everything has a place, that you know where that place is, and that it can be easily accessible—it might be a good idea to have stepstool on hand. I love this garage- it is an organizational dream:)
Mudroom
One of the biggest regrets I have about my house is that there is no space that can be used as a mudroom. My husband and I were brainstorming about where the kids can hang backpacks, coats, etc and we decided we could create a mudroom space in the garage, right outside the door. Look how great this can look! We are starting on this project in the next couple of weeks, so I will keep you posted:) After seeing this on DIY Dad, I was totally inspired.
I have tried organizing space on our garage by hanging things on the wall. I’ve also converted half of my garage as an office for me to comfortably invite potential clients in. I work in the decorative concrete industry and it’s a good way to show my clients how my floors are also what we install (we have different applications). Great post!
Flip the flag around. Stars on the left when displayed vertically.
Glad someone else noticed it was backwards. The gym looks great otherwise!
Thanks for this. I am planning to get my garage door renovated soon. This would really help me out.
This is great. I would definitely give this a try. I am starting to do some garage cleaning now.
That is just awesome. These 8 ideas are just perfect for the renovation of one’s garage. People can never avoid being messy on the garage but this is just a great help for them who are struggling with the mess in garage. Thanks for sharing this one.
