My husband and I have taken our skills as a DIY team and decided to start flipping houses! We are currently working on our third home (the first one was such a learning process!) and it’s our goal to transform it from a cozy cottage into a space that resembles an industrial loft. It’ll be quite the makeover, but we’ve absolutely fallen in love with the results so far. Throughout the project, we’ve become familiar with all things industrial decor. If you, like my husband and I, are going through an industrial remodel, consider adding these components to your decor. We consider these to be industrial decor must-haves!
Galvanized Steel
Galvanized steel is a must have in any industrial space! Here, it makes an appearance on the bar cabinets, the legs of the chairs, and even on the light fixtures. Galvanized steel is one of my favorite things to decorate with, purely because it is so versatile. A few other ways to utilize galvanized steel is on your wall sconces, as bookshelves (the steel creates a really cool effect!), and even as your furniture hardware. When going for an industrial look it’s important that you always include a bit of galvanized steel in your industrial decor!
Exposed Brick
I’ve been known to instantly fall in love with any home if it has a wall of exposed brick! Exposed brick is a great way to add texture to a space as well as tons of color. You can add an instant charm to any space with a wall of exposed brick. However, I find it best to incorporate exposed brick to a single wall of your home..or else it could result in things looking extremely busy! Accessorize with black furniture, copper, and galvanized steel.

Insanely Cool Lighting
Every time I visit a new industrial space I am always blown away by the incredible light fixtures featured in every space. You can purchase these industrial light hangings from Amazon for $55.97 a piece. But the lighting isn’t the only cool part of this space…take a look at how we used pallets as the headboard and nightstands. Also, take a peek at that white brick, the simple coloring makes it the perfect thing to cover the room with.
Copper Decor
If you can, add copper in wherever you need a little extra “oomph.” Though the photo below isn’t of the interior of a home, it’s a picture from one of my best friend’s weddings. She went with industrial themed decor and her seamless use of copper inspired me to do the same in a home I was designing. If it weren’t for her wedding, I would have never thought to consider copper vases, copper picture frames, or copper trim work in an industrial space, but it really turned out great! Copper is a must for industrial decor!
Wooden Elements
I always used to struggle when it came to picking the floors of an industrial themed space, but then my husband recommended that we go with distressed hardwood floors. And I absolutely fell in love. Now, I work wooden elements into my industrial decor wherever I can because it pairs beautifully with galvanized steel, copper, and exposed brick elements.
