You spend a ton of time in bed, so why not be absolutely in love with your setup? It all starts with bedding and a good pair of sheets, of course, but if you still hate your bed after all that work, it might be time to brighten up your boring headboard! Now when I say brighten, I’m not talking anything too crazy, after all, it IS important to go to sleep without a flashy headboard distracting you. I’m talking adorable stencils for headboards! Stencils are a fun and easy way to liven up your bedroom without being too distracting.
Just last weekend my daughter and I worked together to stencil her headboard and she’s so proud of the finished result! In only a few hours time and a few coats of spray paint, we completely transformed the headboard. If you ask me, the stenciled detailing really completes her bedroom.

This wall stencil creates a bedroom fit for a king and queen! The stencil is two-layer, making it perfect for reuse should the situation present itself. It’s also available in different sizes if your little prince or princess decides they absolutely need a matching headboard to go along with yours. DIYers can grab the stencil on Amazon and paint directly over it for all stenciling projects. Just be sure to give it a rinse if planning to reuse it ever again!
Did you know that stencils for headboards are a great way to liven up a boy’s room, too? Have them pick out a stencil in the desired pattern and let them help with the entire DIY process. Not only will it be a good bonding activity with your child but a stenciled accent really does add so much to a room. Without the pop of orange color in the photo below, it looks like this bedroom is lacking something major.
A beautiful stencil can seriously transform your headboard! With a little paint and the perfect stencil (for projects like these, I’ve found the best stencils on Amazon) you can turn your boring store-bought headboard into an absolute work of art. For elaborate stencils like the one below, I find it best to use three different colors. I love how this designer used a grey paint for the base, a magical shade of red for the accent work, and a calming shade like grey around the edges to bring the whole thing together. I’m dying for a headboard exactly like this!
Looking for an easy way to relax in your bedroom? Paint a mandala! I think mandalas add such an aura of relaxation into any room, especially the bedroom! If you agree, use a mandala stencil to create a headboard where you previously didn’t have one, out of any color you wish. However, I must warn you that DIYers should be especially careful when removing this stencil from the wall. Work slowly as the detailing throughout the mandala could get ruined if you move too fast. This is one of my favorite stencils for headboards!
