It happens to the best of us. We live in our homes for years and years and inevitably, the corners of your walls are dinged by kids, furniture, and even your clumsy self from time to time. Instead of crying over chipped plaster, you can fix all the dings in just a day. Here’s how to fix dented corners.
How To Fix Dented Corners
Step One
First thing you need to do is locate all the damaged corners in your home and make a list. This project is really easy. So save time this Saturday and just knock them all out at once.
Step Two
Locate a tub of shrink-free spackling. Shrink-free is important. If you use spackling that shrinks, then you’ll end up with a cracked and sloughing mess before you’re done and no one wants to deal with that!
Step Three
Scoop a finger full of spackling out of the tub with your finger. You can also use a putty knife if you choose. However, using your bare finger helps you to better place the spackling into the grooves of the damaged corner.
Step Four
Generously slather spackling over the damaged corner. Be sure to press the spackling into the grooves of the cracks. It’s better to use more than less. You don’t want to have to repeat this step.
Step Five
Using a putty knife or spackling paddle, scrape off the excess spackling. Run the paddle down the wall on each side of the corner to create a square corner with your spackling.
Step Six
Allow your spackling to dry completely. Next, lightly sand any rough edges or protruding texture with a fine grit sandpaper.
See, repairing dents in walls is not as bad as it might seem. Now that you know how to fix dented corners, what are you waiting for?
