How To Install A Sliding Barn Door
For years I have dreamed about adding a sliding barn door to a room in my home. Finally, my husband appeased me and a barn door we got! This is what we did to get the barn door where we wanted it to be, and I happen to think that it is a foolproof tutorial. Keep reading!
Here is what you need:
Step One: Cut a mounting board (slightly larger than the track) Use drywall anchors and spacers to attach this to the wall.
Step Two: Next, we recommend that you install flat steel track to fit within the width of the door. Only install the steel track where you want the door to travel! Use an awl punch to keep the track from slipping!
Step Three: Next, you will want to install the actual track system. Use a ruler to make sure the track is perfectly even across your barn door. It would be awful to hang this incorrectly!
Step Four: Attach any washers, bolts, or nuts to your hanging barn door should they be necessary. A socket wrench is the perfect tool to tighten the various nuts and bolts required for this project. After that, all you have to do is hang the gliders on its track and use a wrench to tighten any loose bolts found in the bolts or the framework.
Now that your barn door is hung, sit back with a cold drink to reward yourself for the amazing job you just did. When your friends come over you can tell them that you installed it by yourself. They will definitely be impressed! No need to give credit to this tutorial because you did the hard part.
