How to Make a Dry-Erase Shopping List

I made this nifty little creation a few months ago when I was tired of forgetting all the things I needed before shopping trips.

Dry-Erase Shopping List Tutorial (1)

With my handy-dandy dry-erase shopping list, now I can write items down as I think of them, and when it comes time to go to the store again, I just take a picture of the list and it’s on my phone!  Like many discoveries, the idea came for this on accident. I had taken apart a cheap clock from the thrift store (for another craft project) and was left with this round piece of glass from the clock face. I was about to throw it away when I realized what I could do with it! Keep reading for the (SUPER SIMPLE) instructions:

How to Make a Dry-Erase Shopping List

Supplies:

  1. Piece of glass (I like my round one because it doesn’t have sharp edges, but you could also use a picture frame that still has its glass inside)
  2. Scrapbook paper
  3. Spray adhesive (if your glass is not in a frame)
  4. Ribbon (again, may not be necessary if you use a frame)

Instructions:

  1. Find a piece of scrapbook paper to serve as the backdrop of your shopping list. Avoid designs that are really “busy” because you might not be able to read the words over it.
  2. Place your piece of glass (remove from frame) over the paper in the position you want it. Use a pencil to trace around the glass, then cut the shape out of the paper.
  3. Whatever word or words you want to be permanent on your list, write in Sharpie on your paper (i.e. mine says “Shopping”). Other examples: “Note to Self”, “Don’t Forget”, “Memo”, etc.
  4. If you are using a frame, simply place your paper inside the frame. If you are not using a frame, spray a light layer of clear adhesive on the front side of your paper, then gently press the glass and paper together until they stick. Make sure there aren’t any “smudgies” on the glass before you stick them together!
  5. Hang with ribbon (I hot glued mine to the back) or prop up your frame. Have a dry erase marker stored near-by so you can write down ideas as soon as they come to mind!
