Counter tops are so expensive to replace when your heart is yearning for materials like marble and granite. For DIYer’s like us, it’s also a bit of a tricky project.
There is one way you can give your counter top a total facelift in a matter of hours and it’ll cost you pennies compared to the real thing… Cue contact paper.
Step One
Select your preferred contact paper. You’ll find tons of options on Amazon.
Step Two
Measure the surface area of your countertops, including the edges. Order the appropriate amount of contact paper.
Optional: Order an extra roll of contact paper incase you need to repair any sections in the future, or if you accidentally make any unfortunate mistakes!
Step Three
Thoroughly clean countertop surfaces before adhering the contact paper. Any bumps and gashes in the existing countertop will show through the contact paper.
Step Four
Press the contact paper onto the existing countertops. Use a credit card to smooth any air bubbles and to press the edges of the contact paper into the seams of the countertop and walls.
Step Five
As you continue to lay your contact paper, make sure you’re lining up patterns correctly to avoid obvious seams.
The final product looks incredible. Most DIYer’s that have done this to their countertops have reported that the contact paper holds up really well after months of heavy use.
