DIY Liquid Hand Soap

You’ll Need:

3/4 cup liquid Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap (or make your own)

3/4 cup distilled or water that has been boiled (let it cool completely first)

1 Tablespoon sweet almond oil

1 Tablespoon vitamin E oil

15 drops tea tree oil

5 drops peppermint essential oil

Empty soap containers or clean Mason jar

Mason jar soap dispenser (or a similar dispenser. You can always use an old handsoap container!)

Add the water, and the Dr. Bronmers (I like to use an unscented castile soap because you have more flexibility when it comes to the oils you can use) to your container of choice. Next, add the almond oil, Vitamin E oil, and your essental oils of choice. Screw on your soap dispenser and shake well! Recipe from Six Dollar Family.

Coconut Shampoo

You’ll Need:

½  cup coconut milk

⅔ cup unscented Castile soap

2 tsp. vegetable glycerin

1 tsp. Jojoba oil

15-20 drops essential oil of your choice

In a quart sized mason jar, mix all of your ingredients (except for the essential oils) together. Add 15 drops of your favorite essential oil (Tea Tree oil is terrific for your hair, and Bergamot smells incredible!)

Homemade Laundry Detergent

You’ll Need:

1 Box of Borax

1 box of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (this is NOT baking soda…its washing soda, in a much bigger box and is found in the laundry aisle)

3 bars of Ivory bar soap – You CAN also use Fels Naptha, but I don’t personally like it. It irritates my nose way too much when I’m grating it.

Food processor or cheese grater – It’s easier if you  have a food processor, but doing it by hand works just as good!

Grate the bar of Ivory soap into a fine powder. Mix the box of Borax in with the washing soda. Next, add the grated soap. Stir well, and store the mixture in an air tight container. TIP: Six Dollar Family (where this awesome recipe is from!) recommends only using 2-3 tablespoons per load. A lot goes a long way with this awesome recipe!

All Natural Earl Grey Body Wash

You’ll Need:

Clean and dry glass bottle (it has to be glass. Bergamot oil will eat away at plastic!)

Almond scented liquid Castile soap

3 tbsp. Coconut oil

10 drops Lavender essential oil

10 drops Bergamot essential oil

Distilled water

To begin, fill your bottle of choice halfway full of castile soap. Add the coconut oil in with a kitchen whisk. Keep whisking until your mixture looks like the one pictured! Add your essential oils when all of the coconut oil has been whisked in. Pour the mixture into your glass bottle with an old funnel.

Brown Sugar Scrub Bars

You’ll Need:

½ cup olive oil

Soap Mold (or silicone muffin tin!)

Melt the soap base in a pan over low heat. Mix in olive oil, and remove the mixture from heat. Allow pan to cool for 5 minutes before stirring in the brown sugar and the essential oils.
