A stinky house is about my biggest fear when it comes to home maintenance. I want my house to smell clean and fresh all the time. However, the more people you have living in your home, the harder it seems to be to keep it smelling great. If you have the same problem, then here are some great tips to get your house not only smelling clean but also amazing!
The first thing you want to do is air out your house if it doesn’t smell too good. The best way to do that is by opening windows (and doors) when possible. This will let the fresh air in and, hopefully, suck all the bad and stinky air outside.
Try making some homemade potpourri that you can keep in any room. There are tons of recipes you can use and each smells just as good as the next. You can do anything from tangy citrus to calming vanilla, whatever you want!
Himalayan salt lamps
These are supposedly great at clearing up the air around your home. When on, the salt lamps purify the air and make it smell clean and fresh. I would suggest pairing it with something else (like a candle) to make your home smell even better.
Homemade air freshener
Try your hand at making some homemade air fresheners. The best part about these is that you can get the exact scent that you’re looking for. You can usually use a wall plug-in and convert it into your own air freshener, but look around online and find a tutorial that you think you would want to do.
Dryer sheet in fan
A trick I learned a while back is putting dryer sheets on the back of fans, especially if it’s a hot day. You’re already running the fans, so you might as well make them do double duty! The dryer sheets’ scent will get sucked into the fan and then blown out across your whole home, making it smell like fresh laundry!
If you don’t want to buy a candle, you could always make your own. It takes a while, but just like the homemade air freshener, you can get the exact scent that you want. Keep one in each room of your house and burn them whenever you think things are getting stinky.
