How To  Build: Raised Garden Box

Step One: Ready, steady…go! It’s time to build the frame! To build a sturdy frame that will support and allow plants to thrive, set one of your 2x12s (cut to four feet) down where you would like the bed to be. Place a 4×4 corner post (cut to 16 inches) upright against the 2×12 and flush. A woodworking clamp is handy to help make your edges flush!

Step Two: Now, you will want to attach the 2×12 (cut to four feet) to the 4×4 corner post. This will create the short sides of your new garden box. You can do so by using a drill bit and one of your stainless steel screws.

Step Three: Repeat the same process for the other end completing the garden box frame.

Step Four: Now that the two “ends” are complete, you will want to attach the long (8 foot) 2×12 boards to the posts. Again, you will want to secure these with your stainless steel screws.

Step Five: Once these long 2×12 ends are attached to their 4×4 corner posts, your garden box is complete! Now, you’ll want to fill your brand-new garden box with your planting soil! If you can, try to work a little composting into the soil wherever you can. Your plants will absolutely thank you for it and you’ll love how tasty this makes your vegetables become!
