How to Paint Your Ceiling Like a Pro

A sharp white ceiling can really brighten a room, It will also make the color of your walls pop.  That is if you do it correctly… If you do not tape off your ceiling correctly when painting it can make your paint job look sloppy.

 

 

Tape Your Ceiling

Here is a trick I use so my ceilings look professionally painted.  If you take a roll of painters tape and put it exactly on the corner of the wall and ceiling you will end up with a very uneven and wavy line.   I take a roll of tape and lay its side flat against the wall and stick a starter piece to the ceiling.  As I unroll the tape I keep it pressed against the wall and keep it unrolling against the ceiling.

 

Clean Before Painting

You read that correctly, clean your ceiling before you begin to paint. Also, avoid repair work to your ceiling when necessary. More times than not, no one even notices the slight imperfection on your ceiling!

Avoid Painting On Hot or Humid Days

Avoiding painting on days that are hot or humid. Heat and humidity cause the paint to thin out and become more prone to dripping everywhere. I can say from personal experience that a paint drip in the eye is absolutely not fun!

Use Small Rollers

These are so much better than those big bulky ones because they are lighter! You are going to be painting for awhile, so spare your arm muscles! Using small lightweight rollers will keep you from tiring out! Great idea from Bloglovin.

Cover Your Floors

You will love yourself for remembering this. Because let’s face it, paint is going to splatter everywhere!

Use A LOT Of Paint

Apply more paint on the roller after every 4×4 section. More paint will hide imperfections and help to hide those unsightly lines from the roller.

Roll Parallel To Your Entry 

When you roll parallel to the entry way, it makes any lines that show up less noticeable when you first enter the room. I am all about hiding imperfections. A great trick from Sypsie.
